Last minute goals from Clark Caughey & James Glover were enough for the Cyclones to force overtime in their NIIHA Playoff Semi Final against the Armagh Stars but not enough to earn a place in the final for the third time in four years.
A hard fought 40 minutes saw the Cyclones & Stars tied at 7-7 and after a further 5 minute overtime period could not separate the two teams, the game went to sudden death penalty shots.
Shooting first Mark Synnott attempted to put the Cyclones in the driving seat however his shot was saved by Szabó Kornél in the Armagh goal. It was to be David Vakler of the Armagh Stars who would have the final say in this semi final as he skated one-on-one with Steve Gilmartin placing a seemingly miscontrolled deke under the Cyclones netminders arm to win the shootout 1-0.
