Club History

After the Bangor Chiefs won the inaugural NIIHA title, several members of the team decided it was time to move on and in June 2006 the Northern Cyclones where born.

The Cyclones entered the NIIHA senior league for the 2006/07 season and pushed for the title up until the final day, losing the league by a single point. Their high league position gained the team entry into the playoff weekend where they captured their first major title.

Although the club was initially set up with just one team, it wasn’t long before it expanded to include a team at under 12 level. The U12’s continued where the senior’s had left off winning both the NIIHA League and Playoffs in 2008 losing just one game on the way.

Not to be outdone, the seniors added their second major title (and second consecutive playoff victory) by defeating their biggest rivals, the Belfast Bruins in a penalty shootout.

In their short history the Cyclones have won a total of 8 trophies, had 2 players recieve league MVP awards and have had 4 players selected for Great Britain.
